Spring Break 2019 - Day 2 – Austin – San Marcos – New Braunfels

Kids slept in until 10. We headed out to Zilker Park in Austin around 11:00.

Once we arrived there, we took a 20 minute train ride. The weather was cool so the train ride is very enjoyable. Zilker Park in Austin also has jogging trails along the river, a playground, and Barton Springs  pool. We want to go back for Barton Springs pool when the weather gets warmer.

On the way back to San Antonio, we stopped by 2 towns, San Marcos and New Braunfels. When we don’t have the kids, we usually stop because of San Marcos outlet mall. With kids, our stopping point is the  bottom glass boat. The kids enjoyed looking at fish and plants under the water through the glass. We saw different kinds of fish, turtles and even a scuba diver.

We learned what the Aquifer is and why it is so important. After the boat ride, we went to the Aquarium which is free and we saw some more fish and turtles up close.

The last stop is Gruene in New Braunfels. Gruene is about 15 mins from Schlitterbahn water park. There are many good restaurants, unique shops and a music hall. We had late lunch at the Gristmill River restaurant and bar. Then I went to look for unique wall decor for our house. I found 2 handmade wall pieces that would look great together on one of the small wall areas.  I really enjoyed looking around each store because I love one of a kind and handmade unique things. Before we left Gruene, we dropped at the Gruene hall to listen to live music. The two brothers enjoyed their dance together.

We finally got home around 6. It was a nice little spring break trip. We worked hard, met with friends, and visited nice places.
