Dim Sum - our favorite Chinese food

If you are Chinese or Chinese American, I am sure you have been to this restaurant. Golden Wok on Wurzbach is a Chinese restaurant that is known for their Dim Sum. On weekends dim sum is already cooked upfront for customers to choose from food carts between 10:45-2. We always try to get there when the restaurant opens to avoid waiting to get our table.

They have a very nice Japanese water garden in the front of the restaurant and the kids love to feed the Koi fish while we are waiting.

My husband’s favorite dim sum dish is Funf Jou, stewed chicken deer steamed in black bean sauce. The kids love dim sum noodles. It is simple stir fry noodles with onions, bean sprouts, and sesame oil. I tried to cook this dish before and it turned out just as well.

The kids are still learning how to use chopsticks.

Even though they don’t use them the right way, they always have fun eating with them. Even though my husband is 100% German, he can eat with chopsticks very well.

During the week, we can order Dim Sum from the menu. They also offer Chinese lunch specials from 11-2:30 pm. In addition they also have a  food bar that customers can pick their own vegetables, meats, and sauces to be cooked similar to a Mongolian style  restaurant.

One time we invited  one of our great friends and his wife for a Chinese New Year’s celebration. The restaurant has  a big party and they sell tickets for their banquet. Their  chef prepared 10 traditional Chinese dishes and brought them to the guests’ table one at a time. They also had Chinese performances while we were enjoying our special meal. The food was so delicious. We were so full and had so much fun afterwards. Sadly, our friend died in a car accident and his wife invited us the year after to cherish the good time we spent together at this restaurant. It was very sad but we shared good memories about her husband together.
