Spring Break 2019 - Day 1 at Schlitterbahn resort and Thinkery Museum in Austin

Combining work and fun are always a part of  our family’s activities. I had an appointment to tour Schlitterbahn resort on the first day of Spring Break so we decided to pack our bags and drive to Austin. We also wanted to meet up with my best friend and her son from Dallas. He got accepted to UT Austin and wanted to tour and talk with a senior to make his final decision.

I am excited that we will add Schlitterbahn resort to Texas Tourism packages. It would be fun for families to stay at the resort for 2 days and San Antonio for 2 days. New Braunfels is such a beautiful town to visit nearby San Antonio. The resort offers their guests early access to the water park which will be great during the busy summer.

After the meeting, we arrived at the hotel in Round Rock. My youngest got a fever so we were unsure about our activities for the next day. We had dinner with my friend’s families at a Viennese restaurant and headed to bed early.

I got up early to say goodbye to my friend because they had to leave the hotel to go to the tour at 9. The kids were in bed until 10. We let them sleep in because they can rest more during their vacation.

We went to the Thinkery museum at 11:30. The kids went from one exhibit to another and had a lot of fun being curious and interacting with anything they could put their hands on. The youngest one was trying to keep up with his  brother. He was crying because he wanted to climb up the net at the playground. My husband had to help push him up as high as possible until he felt that he was as good as his brother.

After a few hours at the Thinkery museum, my husband had a meeting downtown so we all went to the meeting with him. After that, we drove to China town on Lamar street to have dinner. Our friend recommended Chinese First BBQ. They served big plates and we all really enjoyed dinner. After dinner, I went to shop at the Chinese grocery store nearby and got a lot of stuff to take home. We were all exhausted especially the kids so we fell asleep early at the hotel.
